Choose a physical form your plant can receive
Hong Ha’s product catalog lists quicklime as 0–25 mm material, 10–80 mm and 20–80 mm lumps, and 100 mesh and 200 mesh powder. These labels help a buyer identify a starting format. They are not a complete agreement about the distribution inside a delivered bag.
The National Lime Association also distinguishes several commercial quicklime forms and identifies separate chemical and physical testing standards. Procurement should therefore address chemistry and sizing as different acceptance questions.
Write down what the size label must mean
For a lump enquiry, specify the accepted range together with limits for material below and above that range. Ask how the sample will be taken and tested. For a powder enquiry, name the sieve standard and required percentage passing. Avoid translating a mesh number into a guaranteed particle size without first agreeing the applicable standard.
Include receiving equipment, transfer steps and the feed system in the brief. Your plant team can then decide whether the offered form needs further evaluation.
Keep fineness, chemistry and reactivity distinct
The 200 mesh catalog entry publishes CaO above 90% and other chemical references. It also lists a reactivity value, but a useful comparison needs the test method and conditions. Neither a powder label nor the CaO headline by itself proves performance in your process.
Request the specification and relevant analysis for the offered material, rather than treating catalog descriptions as the results of a shipment.
A size specification your team can complete
- Material and format: quicklime, proposed catalog format and intended application.
- Distribution: size range or sieve standard, passing percentage, fines and oversize limits.
- Verification: sampling location, test method and acceptance procedure.
- Other properties: chemistry and any process-specific reactivity requirement.
- Delivery: packing, quantity and receiving equipment.
Agree these details in the offer before ordering. A request for a sample should use the same acceptance questions as the eventual shipment.
