The reported production figures
worldsteel’s release dated 23 October reports 142.4 million tonnes of crude steel across 70 reporting countries in September 2026, a 0.2% year-on-year decrease. In the same release, Viet Nam recorded 2.6 million tonnes, up 29.1% from September 2025.
The contrasting movements matter: a domestic increase can coexist with a broadly flat international total. The figures describe crude steel output, not lime consumption, available mineral supply or sales by Vietnam Lime.
Our editorial reading
Production statistics are useful context for conversations with industrial customers. They do not replace a plant-specific requirement. Before treating a monthly output change as a purchasing signal, ask which operation the material will serve, what grade is approved and when the receiving site can accept a shipment.
For an existing supply programme, compare quotations on the same basis. A different size range, packing format or delivery point can make two offers difficult to compare even if their headline descriptions look similar.
Questions worth resolving first
- Which chemical and physical acceptance criteria apply?
- Is the quoted quantity a trial shipment or a recurring requirement?
- What is the delivery location and preferred packing format?
- Which analysis or sample must be reviewed before ordering?
